ATHABASCA TRIBAL COUNCIL PARTNERS WITH BOUCHIER TO PRESENT THE ELDERS PROGRAMMING AT ATC CULTURAL FESTIVAL FOR A SECOND YEAR

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo, AB, Treaty 8 – July 18, 2024) - The Athabasca Tribal Council (ATC) is delighted to announce that Bouchier is again sponsoring the Elders Programming at the ATC Cultural Festival, September 12-15, 2024. This marks the second consecutive year that Bouchier has generously supported the Festival, with a special focus on honouring and caring for community Elders.

“The Elders Programming, presented by Bouchier, is a key component of the Festival,” said Chief Allan Adam, President of the Athabasca Tribal Council and Chief of Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation. “The space dedicated to the Elders is a heartwarming place of connections, stories, and laughter, where our cultures are alive and thriving. With Bouchier’s support, we ensure it remains the heart of the ATC Cultural Festival.”

Building upon last year's success, the Elders Programming presented by Bouchier will be a comfortable space for Elders to gather, enjoy bannock and tea, engage in cultural activities, view the mainstage performances and receive meals served by caring volunteers.

“We are honoured to support the ATC Cultural Festival and the Elders Programming for the second year,” said Nicole Bourque-Bouchier, Co-owner and CEO of Bouchier. “The Elders are the keepers of our history, knowledge and traditions, and it is a privilege to help create a space where they can come together, enjoy the music and activities of the Festival, and share their wisdom with the community and younger generations.”

The ATC Cultural Festival will take place September 12-15, 2024, at Snye Point Park in Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo, Northern Alberta, on Treaty 8 territory.

"The ATC Cultural Festival welcomes all Elders in the region, " stated Karla Buffalo, Chief Executive Officer of the Athabasca Tribal Council. “With Bouchier's support, we have a wonderful space where each Elder will be honoured and experience the joy of the Festival and the gathering of our diverse Indigenous cultures of the region."
